Ramsau am Dachstein is one of Europe’s leading cross-country skiing destinations and forms the Nordic heart of Schladming-Dachstein. Among the special winter experiences is the floodlit night trail at the cross-country stadium, where Nordic world champions and FIS World Cup stars have battled it out for seconds. The high-altitude trail on the Rittisberg leads at 1,500 metres above sea level around the summit of Ramsau’s local mountain; you can go even higher on the high-alpine Dachstein glacier trails. Up here, you can soak up the high-altitude sunshine and, with a bit of luck, watch top international athletes in training. The range of trails is complemented by further valley and high-altitude trails throughout the region, such as those in the Donnersbach Valley or the Sölktäler Nature Park.

The Schladming-Dachstein holiday region is easily accessible by train, car or plane. For electric cars, there are over 60 charging stations with around 170 charging points. Regular direct services from Vienna and Munich, as well as international high-speed train services, make travelling by train a genuine alternative.
