Discover regions with a Nordic tradition

The Nordic sport is simply part of Slovenia’s identity. Well before the alpine skiing sport became popular, the small country was already home to major cross-country competitions. You’ll benefit from this on your cross-country skiing holiday in Slovenia, as many of the regions have a well-developed infrastructure. With everything that a Nordic heart could desire! Discover hand-picked cross-country skiing hotels with hosts who know the Julian Alps and Kamnik-Savinja Alps like the back of their hand.

The central Nordic Centre is located in the Kranjska Gora, Planica & Tamar region: among the highest Slovenian summits you’ll find a great territory with a 31 km network of cross-country ski trails up to 1,300 m. It starts right in the centre of the town – because cross-country skiing isn’t a niche sport here! – day and night, in winter and in summer.

Bohinj is known as the host venue of the 1st cross-country skiing World Cup in 1986 and for its 70 km network of cross-country ski trails incl. high-altitude trails. Professionals from the Slovenian skiing association train on World Cup routes at the Rogla cross-country skiing centre. And yet beginners and families will also find their 20 km cross-country ski trail territory here.

The biathlon centre on the Pokljuka plateau provides perfect training conditions and 30 km of variety. Beginners should try the Logar Valley with 10 km of prepared natural cross-country ski trails and also the traditional Jezersko on the Austrian border.

Whichever region you choose: your cross-country skiing holiday in Slovenia offers unlimited opportunities!

The most modern Nordic skiing complex in the world

Superlatives are fully in trend at the Planica Nordic Centre. Nordic history was and is written here. Because the Nordic centre for cross-country skiing & ski jumping, not far from the Austrian border, is the most modern Nordic skiing complex in the world.

The centre is home to 8 ski jumps, 31 km of cross-country skiing trails, a covered cross-country skiing polygon that can also be used in summer, a museum, a wind tunnel and the steepest zipline.
