Jürgen Gössnitzer is a passionate cross-country skier – and you can tell that straight away when he talks about his sport. What fascinates him most about it? “It’s a full-body workout; you can really push yourself to the limit – and all amidst stunning natural surroundings.”
Jürgen’s favourite routes are in Mallnitz: the challenging Tauerntal circuit with its gruelling climbs and firm trail conditions, as well as the route towards the Ankogel ski resort. There, steep sections and fast descents await, with a detour around the idyllic Lake Stappitz as a reward.
Even in summer, he remains true to his passion and trains regularly on Skike roller skis – the tarmac version of cross-country skiing. He has one essential tip for beginners: “It’s best to take a course straight away, otherwise there’s a high risk of getting into the habit of making incorrect movements.” Anyone trying it on their own should start without poles, to build up the complex hand-foot coordination step by step.
