One of the most important sporting events in Pillerseetal is the annual Biathlon World Cup in Hochfilzen. This top event attracts numerous visitors from home and abroad to the charming Tyrolean holiday resort every year. Exciting races, a varied supporting programme and a rousing atmosphere in the stadium make the event a special experience for all biathlon fans.

The competition programme traditionally includes the sprint, pursuit and relay races for men and women at the beginning of December. Hochfilzen has established itself as a permanent fixture on the World Cup calendar and has also hosted the Biathlon World Championships three times - in 1978, 2005 and 2017.
