Discover regions with a Nordic tradition

Nordic sports are simply part of Slovenia's identity. Long before alpine skiing took off, major cross-country competitions were organised in this small country. You will benefit directly from this during your cross-country skiing holiday, as numerous regions have a well-developed infrastructure – with everything a Nordic skier could wish for!

The central Nordic Centre is located in the Kranjska Gora, Planica & Tamar region: in the highest Slovenian peaks you will find a top area with a 31 km network of trails up to 1,300 m above sea level. It starts right in the town centre - because cross-country skiing is not a marginal sport here!

Bohinj is famous for hosting the 1st Cross-Country Skiing World Cup in 1986 and for its 70 km network of trails, including high-altitude trails. In the Rogla cross-country skiing centre, the professionals of the Slovenian Ski Association train on World Cup trails. Nevertheless, beginners and families will also find their 20-km cross-country skiing area here.

The biathlon centre in the Pokljuka plateau provides perfect training conditions and 30 km of variety. The Logar Valley with 10 km of groomed natural trails and the traditional Jezersko on the Austrian border are recommended for beginners.

Whichever region you choose: Your cross-country skiing holiday in Slovenia offers you unlimited possibilities!

The most modern Nordic ski complex in the world

Superlatives are the order of the day at the Planica Nordic Centre. Nordic history has been and is being written here. The Nordic Centre for Cross-Country Skiing & Ski Jumping, not far from the Austrian border, is the most modern Nordic ski complex in the world.

The centre is home to 8 ski jumps, 31 km of cross-country ski trails, a covered cross-country skiing polygon that can also be used in summer, a museum, a wind tunnel and the steepest zipline.
