Cross-country skiing between valleys and peaks
With around 40 kilometres of cross-country trails, the three-valley municipality of Ratschings is one of South Tyrol’s most varied cross-country skiing regions. The trails wind through snow-covered valleys, sparse woodlands and high-altitude areas offering stunning views – such as the 8 km-long Ratschingstal valley trail, which gently winds its way through the entire valley to its head. The Platschjoch high-altitude trail, on the other hand, offers spectacular views at 1,800 metres: the circular route leads from the Rinneralm chairlift to the Platschjoch area.
The Ridnaun Valley also offers a real highlight for Nordic winter sports enthusiasts: the Ridnaun Biathlon Centre. International athletes train here regularly in preparation for top-class competitions. Anyone wishing to try their hand at the shooting range and on the cross-country trails can experience the thrill of the sport first-hand through taster cross-country skiing courses or the ‘Biathlon for All’ programme. Thanks to free access to the trails with the activeCARD, nothing stands in the way of winter fun in the three valleys.
