In East Tyrol, you can look forward to ski tours in the Upper Tauern National Park, in the Lienz Dolomites, in the Defereggen Valley and in the High Puster Valley. Yet a MUST for all those who love to leave the first tracks in the snow is undoubtedly the Villgratental. It is in fact the only valley in East Tyrol that has never seen a ski lift. Those who like to push themselves to their limits should take a closer look at the Hoch Tirol ski route. It takes you past some of the most beautiful peaks in the Eastern Alps, including the Grossglockner (3,798 metres) and the Großvenediger (3,666 metres) in six days. The region of East Tyrol even offers some beginner's tours that take you up to almost 3,000 metres. All those who, in addition to physical activity, also like to acquire new knowledge and meet like-minded people, can enjoy the annual ski touring festival in the Villgratental.
