On a ski touring holiday in Mallnitz, the mountaineering village in the heart of the Upper Tauern National Park, both beginners and those with more experience can enjoy all the opportunities that the largest ski touring territory in the Eastern Alps has to offer. The Tauern Valley itself offers 12 tours with a total length of 83 km. Beautiful panoramas included. There are a further 11 tours to be discovered on the Ankogel, 4 in the Dösental valley and 2 short tours in the beginners’ area of the Häusleralm. Beginners‘ routes lead you to chalets, whereas the Tauern Valley classic leads you to the Romatenspitze and high-alpine challenges take you up to the Geiselkopf and other mountains.

The tour to the Hagener Hütte is a "beginner's classic" for ski tourers and can be tackled practically all winter long.

Ski tour: Radeckscharte (2,874 m) from the Ankogel ski area with descent into the Anlauftal valley

THE freetouring classic from the Ankogel ski area. The 300 metre ascent warms you up and gives you the feeling of having done something. The showpiece, however, is the descent: a perfect 1,000 m high slope takes you into the Anlauftal.
