Nordic sports in the Upper Tauern: whether it’s traditional or skating style, on the cross-country ski trails around Mallnitz you can track or skate through the idyllic Seebach and Tauern national park valleys – directly from the centre of the town and up to an average of 1,200 metres above sea level. The network of trails covers a distance of 25 kilometres – and has been awarded the Carinthian Cross-Country Skiing Seal of Quality. It also has a snow machine to ensure cross-country skiing fun from mid-December to the end of March. Breathe in the clean mountain air of the climatic spa resort while leisurely hiking on the trails or participating in some challenging endurance training and look forward to enjoying some natural treasures – it’s not for nothing that Mallnitz is known as the pearl of the National Park.
The mountain climber village of Mallnitz in Carinthia offers mountaineers a wide range of ski tours: from perfect high winter and beginners tours – for example those up to the Häusleralm or Hagenerhütte – to high alpine crossings that last several days, such as the challenging Ankogel-Hochalmspitz circular tour that takes tourers up to 3,360 m.
